Business continuity and disaster recovery plan are necessary to be in place in order to continue to run your business when the unexpected happen. prepared companies face consequences that range from prolonged system downtime and the resulting revenue loss to going out of business altogether, yet many IT systems are not prepared to deal with such “worst case” scenarios.
The key to surviving such an event is a business continuity and disaster recovery strategy. Every organization needs to put into place a set of policies and procedures for an IT-disabling disaster. The primary component of a business continuity strategy is a disaster recovery plan (DRP).
Data Bases Hacker for 20 Years in Federal Prison

Albert Gonzalez, the hacker who pleaded guilty to one of the largest cases of credit card theft in the U.S.. Gonzalez, was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison last month after he confessed to stealing millions of credit and debit card numbers from major retailers, including T.J.Maxx, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Office Max, Barnes & Noble, Hannaford Bros., and Heartland Payment Systems.
He was accused of breaking into systems by wardriving a technique using a laptop to detect an unsecured wireless networks and then installing sniffer programs to capture un suspecting data. The data was then used to make clone cards and withdraw cash from ATMs. More >
Britney Spears’ Demos were Lost in a Fire

I have gotten word that music producer Rusko, who is currently contributing to Britney Spears’ album, suffered a devastating loss when his car exploded in his driveway and it set fire to his house! His home, cars, and studio were all destroyed in literally an hour, and although he managed to escape with his hard drive, all of his Britney’s demos were lost in the fire! No one was seriously injured, but imagine what it must be like to literally lose everything like this!
Data Breach Law – Restaurant Fined $110,000 in Penalties

A Massachusetts restaurant chain Briar Group has become the first company fined under the state’s new tough data breach law and will have to pay $110,000 in penalties, according to a statement by the Massachusetts Attorney General. The Briar Group LLC entered into a settlement with Massachsuetts Attorney General Martha Coakley over allegations that the chain failed to protect patrons’ personal information. The case stemmed from an April, 2009 incident in which a malicious program installed on Briar’s computer systems allowed unknown hackers to access customers’ credit and debit card information. That malicious code wasn’t detected and removed until December, 2009, according to a statement from the Attorney General.
